A terrarium is a self-contained miniature garden under glass — and in Kuwait, where outdoor heat and dust make traditional gardening difficult for nine months of the year, it's one of the few ways to keep a low-maintenance living plantscape inside the home, the office, or the diwaniya. Terra Garden was the first studio in Kuwait to specialise in terrarium design, and we still build every piece by hand at our Shuwaikh workshop.

The collection ranges from desktop sizes — perfect for a console in the entryway or a side table beside the majlis seating — to large statement geometric vessels that work as a centrepiece on a dining or coffee table. Closed terrariums create a self-watering tropical microclimate ideal for ferns, fittonia, and moss; open terrariums house succulents, cacti, and air plants that suit Kuwait's dry indoor air without humidity build-up.

Every terrarium leaves the workshop already settled and balanced, with layered drainage, activated charcoal, sterilised substrate, and plants that have been hardened off in our nursery. We choose species that tolerate the lower light levels of Kuwaiti interiors — windows are often shaded for heat — and the cool, dry air produced by air conditioning.
