Kanuma Soil 1.2L is a lightweight, acidic Japanese granular growing medium used especially for azaleas, Satsuki bonsai, and other acid-loving plants. Its porous structure combines drainage and root-zone aeration with useful moisture retention, helping fine roots receive both water and oxygen. Kanuma can be used alone or as part of a specialist bonsai mix depending on the plant, pot, climate, and grower's method. It is not a general-purpose replacement for every indoor potting mix. Follow species-specific repotting practice, avoid crushing the granules unnecessarily, and monitor the substrate over time because its structure gradually breaks down with use.
